Z -- FREEMAN LAKE DAM RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT DUE 021500 POC John Montgomery Phone 606-233-0574 or Charlie Bryant Phone 270-765-6121 DESC: NOTICE TO PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS, SUBCONTRACTORS, AND VENDORS Sealed bids, in single copy, for work described herein will be received until 2:00 P.M. EST, on February 15, 2000 in the office of the City Clerk at 200 West Dixie Avenue, P.O. Box 550, Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42702, and at that time publicly opened and read for the construction of the Freeman Lake Dam Reconstruction Project, located in the City of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Description of the Work: The project will consist of reconstruction of an earhen dam. Contruction activities will include: excavating the remaining embankment down to bedrock; excavating and preparing a cutoff trench; trenching into rock and pouring a concrete diaphragm wall; construction of a new concrete riser structure and concrete pressure pipe; installing a granular seepage drainage system; reconstructing the embankment and emergency spillway; cement grouting of the abutments; construction of a french drain system; demolition of the existing riser structure and principal spillway pipe; removal of the temporary BCCMP riser, trashrack, and spillway; removal of the existing cofferdam; and seeding, mulching and cleaning up of the site. Approximate construction quantities for the project include: earthwork (embankment/excavation) -- 370,000 cubic yards; cutoff trench excavation 10,000 cubic yards,; concrete diaphragm wall -- 1,300 linear feet; cement grout -- 4,000 cubic feet; sand -- 7,600 cubic yards, crushed stone -- 1,500 cubic yards; HDPE pipe -- 3,000 linear feet; prestressed concrete pipe -- 280 linear feet; three sluice gate systems; and one prefabricated pedestrian bridge. Items to be utilized include: mobile office; surveying; geotextiles; various pre-cast drainage structures; stone of various sizes; sand; cast-in-place concrete; piezometers; rock anchor bolts; and misscellaneous metals. The estimated price range is between $2,000,000.00 and $7,000,000.00. All offers must be accompanied by either a cashier's check from a federally-insured financial institution or corporate surety acceptable to the U.S. Treasury in the amount of 5 percent of the bid amount. A contract will not be awarded to a firm in which any official of the City of Elizabethtown; employee of Fuller, Mossbarger, Scott & May Engineers; or any member of their immediate family has direct or indirect interest in the pecuniary profits of contracts. All work shall be completed by October 1, 2000. Estimated start date shall be March 1, 2000. Prospecitive bidders shall assemble at the City Council Chambers at the above address at 9:00 A.M. EST, on Friday, January 28, 2000 for a MANDATORY pre-bid conference and site visit for general contractors desiring to submit an offer as prime contractor. Contractor must either be licensed to conduct business in Kentucky and Elizabethtown or obtain any needed license prior to contract award. The City of Elizabethtown reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to let the contract as a whole or for any part, and to waive any informalies or irregularities in the bids received.
