The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station intends to award a purchase order for 1 High-resolution side scan sonar (SHRSSS) Model SLS-014 on a sole-source basis to Sonatech, Inc, 879 Ward Drive, Santa Barbara, Ca. 93111. The Naval Surface Warfare Center has previously purchased this Sonar from Sonatech and it is now being integrated into an operational system. In order to support this Sonar in the field, a spare Sonar is required. This Sonar employs a very high frequency and provides a very high resolution capability that requires special testing procedures, support equipment, and facilities. It is not reasonable to expect competition to offset the cost of qualification testing for a new vendor. Delivery will be to the Receiving Officer Building 100, Coastal System Station, 6703 W.
