Work involves replacing the stainless wire used in the original effort with Monel 400 wire. This will involve partially removing old stainless wire, adding an insulating sheath around the stainless steel nail anchors (to prevent electrolysis), and re-wiring the coral fragment using existing stainless steel nail anchor points. In some, instances, where removing the wire would lead to coral injury, the contractor must not remove the existing wire but must add additional new wire using the aforementioned insulating sheath. The focus is to rewire live fragments only. Based on reconnaissance trips and monitoring data, approximately one-half of the 1,857 original transplants over the 6.7 acre site have survived and must be rewired. The government intends to contract with Industrial Divers, Inc. Under the authority of 41 USC253 (c)(1). These services are only known to be available from Industrial Divers, Inc. This acquisition is being conducted pursuant to the guidelines set forth in FAR Part 13.
