E-MAIL: Lynn E. Rafford, Lynn.Rafford-1@ksc.nasa.gov. THIS NOTICE
CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. ONE TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR DUAL
JACKET SINGLE METALLIC ARMOR DIRECT BURIED FIBER OPTICAL CABLE .
Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This
notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a
written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is
to extend the due date for the receipt of offers and to post answers
to technical questions. The due date for receipt of offers is extended
to Monday, May 22, 2000. Technical questions and answers are as
follows: Question: Please clarify Paragraph 4.2.7.4 as far as the
colors of the buffer tubes. Per the TIA/EIA-359-A standard referenced
the buffer tube colors should follow in line with the fiber colors.
Therefore, the 4 fiber buffer tubes would be colored Blue, Orange,
Green and Brown respectively. Answer: The colors identified in the
synopsis are what is needed for this fiber optic cable procurement. The
cable being procured must match the existing cable here at Kennedy
Space Center. Question: Please be advised that there is a discrepancy
between KSC Specification 79K28215 Revision K, and cable description in
Synopsis. KSC Specification 79K28215 Revision K calls for 6 Loose
Buffer Tubes each containing a 6 Fiber Bundles (Reference paragraph
4.2.7.1 of 79K28125, Revision K, Page 7), while description in Synopsis
calls for 4 Loose Buffer Tube each containing a 9 Fiber Bundle type
cable. Which one governs, the Specification or the Synopsis? Answer:
Section 4.2.7 on page 7 of Specification 79K28125 Rev. K, the last
sentence states "The configuration will be specified on the purchase
order." The language in the synopsis is directly from the purchase
requisition and would be on the purchase order as well, so the synopsis
governs for the cable description. Question: What is the requested lead
time for the two lengths of cable referenced on the solicitation?
Answer: Requested lead time is the best delivery schedule available for
this type of fiber optic cable. Question: Will the 500 meter test
length be ordered in advance of the balance of 4828 meters? Answer: The
500 meter test length will be ordered in advance of the balance of 4828
meters. Preferred delivery of the balance of the cable is three to four
weeks after the test cable passes the quality test. Companies shall
provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA
Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on May 22, 2000. Documents related
to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in
Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format
and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed
