Development Center, Topographic Engineering Center (TEC) at Alexandria,
VA is submitting this Request for Information (RFI) to identify
domestic and foreign manufacturers of Robotic or One-Man Total Station
Surveying Systems. TEC will be conducting, subject to funding,
comparative testing of Robotic or One-Man Total Stations to identify a
potential replacement for the Automatic Integrated Surveying
Instrument (AISI). The AISI performs second through fourth order
surveys that provide horizontal control, vertical control, and azimuth
data to support weapon systems, mapping, and construction in a
tactical environment. The AISI (Total Station Surveying System) and
AISI software (Terramodel) were fielded to the U.S. Army Construction
and Topographic Units in 1995-1996. In Robotic Surveying, the Total
Station is unmanned and the operator performs all surveying functions
at the point being measured. All information submitted in response to
this RFI will be used for planning purposes only. FAR Clause 52.215-3
applies. This is not a formal solicitation under FAR Part 15 or a FAR
Part 13 Simplified Acquisition, but a request for interested companies
to provide information. All information received will be safeguarded
from unauthorized disclosure. Please ensure any sensitive information
is clearly marked as such. All respondents should specify the size of
their business. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals
and no contract will be awarded from this announcement. No
reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing
information in response to this announcement and/or any follow-up
information requests. No telephone calls will be accepted requesting a
