66 -- INSTRUMENTS & LABORATORY EQUIPMENT SOL RFQ-NCI-00091-NQ DUE 060600 POC Cynthia Brown, Purchasing Agent, 301-402-4509, Todd Cole, Contract Officer The National Cancer Institute (NCI), on behalf of the NIH MRI Research Facility (NMRF), National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), plans on procuring a complete MRI system (magnet and console system) operating at 7 Tesla with a magnet bore size of at least 20 or 21 cm. In addition, another console for an existing 7 Tesla, 89 mm vertical magnet is also required. The MRI system will include the 20 or 21 cm magnet, a computer, rf electronics, amplifiers, receivers, gradients, shims, RF probes and other features. The consoles shall be fully integrated with the magnets, and data shall be compatible when shared between consoles within the NMRF. Full details of this requirement will be included in the RFQ package. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with the procedures for acquiring commercial items authorized in FAR Part 12 and pursuant to the authority in FAR 13.5 to use simplified procedures for commercial requirements. The Government anticipates that only one, fixed price contract will be awarded under the anticipated Request for Quotations. The Standard Industrial Code is 3826 and the business size standard is 500 employees. However, this acquisition is not set-aside for small business. The complete RFQ/solicitation package is scheduled for release on approximately June 6, 2000, and offers will be tentatively due about 20 days thereafter.
