The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) intends to issue a Request for Proposals to provide integrated, state-of-the-art microcomputer equipment and software to field employees nationwide. Contractor responsibilities will include: (1) the acquisition of microcomputer hardware, peripherals, software and supplies; (2) installation of equipment and software; (3) equipment testing; and (4) shipment of complete systems. FSIS anticipates award of a single Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract, with a period of performance of one year, plus four one-year option periods. The incumbent contractor is Bay State Computers, Inc., Lanham, MD. The estimated annual value of this contract is $5,000,000. This acquisition is being issued as a competitive 8(a) set-aside under SIC Codes 5045 and 7378. Due to specific inspection requirements, competition is limited to certified 8(a) vendors with offices in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. All qualified 8(a) sources must submit their company name and address, and a point of contact and telephone number to FSIS by June 9, 2000.
