The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to acquire technical support to study integrated optic micro-resonators on a sole source basis with Wen, Hagley and Associates, Rockville, Maryland . The tasks to be performed are theoretical calculations of micro-resonator structures, and design of lithographic masks for the fabrication of such structures. This acquisition is to be accomplished under the authority of FAR 13.106(a)(5), which permits sole-source acquisition when only one source is reasonably available. The anticipated period of performance is 90 days from date of award. This is a sole source requirement because Wen, Hagley and Associates has many years of experience in integrated optics and in the study of micro-resonator structures and is uniquely qualified to pursue these studies. This notice is not a Request for Quotations. However, interested parties may identify their capability to satisfy the Government's requirements no later than the response date above. Capability statements shall include documentation of expertise in all areas pertinent to the proposed project. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. A solicitation document is not available.
