Services, bluzik@osmre.gov. The Office of Sufrace Mining (OSM),
Appalachian Region Coordinating Center, is planning to procure
Geotechnical Engineering Services and Surveying Services in support of
the Abandoned Mine Land Program. The Geotechnical Engineering Services
are related to 1)Landslides, Unstable Refuse Banks, and other Soil and
Rock Instability Problems, 2) Mine and Refuse Fires, 3) Hazardous Mine
Entries, i.e., shafts, slopes, adits or any other portal and their
effects such as mine gases, acid mine drainage and blowout, and 4) Mine
Subsidence. Surveying Services involve Cross Sectioning and Volumetric
Measurements of Project Sites. All work is directly related to prior
Coal Mining Operations and is located in the State of Kentucky. Work
shall be performed in short time frames as an emergincy response to
these problems. Geographic proximity to the project sites (centered in
the Prestonsburg, KY Area)is a major consideration in the selection
process. Interested parties shall request a solicitation proposal
package in writing. The credentials and experience in response to this
solicitation will be evaluated and rated for a prequalified list of
sources, with whom exclusive negotiations will be conducted for
individual contracts on a case by case basis as needed. It is
anticipated that solicitation No. 143868-RFP00-12000 will be issued on
or about August 13, 2000. Telephone requests for this solicitation
