98107 19 -- CONSTRUCTION OF PASSENGER/ VEHICLE FERRY SOL IFA CV-100 DUE
091800 POC Kent Miller, (907)225-3992 This RFP is for the detail
engineering, construction, completion, testing and delivery of a 150
passenger, 30 car, Sub-chapter K vehicle/passenger ferry to provide
year-round service to the south end of Prince of Wales Island from
Ketchikan, Alaska. One vessel will be built for delivery in the year
2001; an optional second vessel may follow for delivery in 2002. The
design features of the ferry are: LOA 197'-6", beam 53'-0", design
draft 9'-0" to 11'-0". The ship will have twin geared diesel propulsion
with controllable pitch propellers. Offerers should have a minimum of
four years experience in the construction of U.S. Coast Guard
certificated, Subchaperter T and K passenger vessels, and have
constructed four such passenger vessels, with at least one vessel of
the approximate size and complexity of the subject ferry. The
Inter-island Ferry Authority will provide a full Contract Design
Package and Request for Proposal (RFP) to offerers wishing to submit a
proposal. The non-refundable fee of $100.00 for the Contract Design
package and RFP is payable to: Inter-island Ferry Authority, c/o
Elliott Bay Design Group, 5301 Shilshole Avenue Northwest, Suite 200,
Seattle, Washington, 98107. Copies of the Contract Design package and
RFP will be available 7/17/00. A pre-proposal conference wil be held in
Seattle on 8/14/00. The deadline for submittal of the proposals is
9/18/00. The estimated cost of the ferry is $10.8 Million to $11.5
Million. Proposals will be evaluated on price, the offerer's
experience, warranty support, building facility, and other factors
indicated in the Request for Proposals. The project is state and
federally funded by the Inter-island Ferry Authority, and Alaskan Port
Authority, Federal Transit Administration and Federal Highway
Administration. DBE, prevailing wage, "Buy America Requirements", and
other Federal Transportation Administration requirements are to be met.
