The Oconee National Forest has a requirement for rental of logging equipment with operators for Southern Pine Beetle suppression in Jasper and Putnam Counties, Georgia. The equipment will used to fell and lay and /or push over trees to prevent the spread of the Southern Pine Beetle. The tractor must have a felling head (shear or saw) capable of cutting trees up to 20 inches dbh and capable of felling or bunching trees toward the center of the infested areas; Prefer equipment to be 4x4, rubber tired with high ground clearance; Recommend machine to have enclosed canopy for protection from flying debris, protruding objects, and stinging insects; Machine must have transportation available to move moderate distances to work sites. An indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract will be awarded from this solicitation. Orders will be placed as need from award date through November 30, 2000, and work is expected to begin immediately upon award. Due to the nature of this requirement, the amount of work andduration of need is very uncertain. More than one award may result from this solicitation with a minimum guarantee purchase of $10,000 to each awardee. No more than $100,000 will be paid to a single awardee. Delivery orders will be evaluated on (1) price and (2) availability at time of need.
