The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), through the ADP Acquisiitons Branch, Program Support Center (PSC), intends to award a twelve-month sole source simplified acquisition to the MEDSTAT Group of Santa Barbara, CA. This acquisition will examine: 1)the utilization of mental health services by children and adolescents under employer sponsored health plans to provide a profile of the characteristics of the users and of the types of services they receive to serve as a baseline for future studies in the area; and, 2) the utilization of psychotropic medications within employer-sponsored health plans, profiling the characteristics of adults and children for whom the medications are prescribed, the types of providers who prescribe the medications, and the relationships between benefit plans design and patterns of prescriptions. Information used for these examinations will be derived from the MarketScan database, a proprietary database created and maintained by MEDSTAT, Inc., which contains detailed patient-level clinical and financial data on a large national sample of privately-insured patients. The closing date is August 10, 2000. This is not a formal solicitation for proposals; however, firms having the ability to satisfy this requirement must submit written notification which demonstrates the ability to do so.
