Contract Specialist, (202) 324-0566 The Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI) is issuing a solicitation for the design and installation of Fall
Restraint Systems for the FBI, West Virginia (WV) Complex, 1000 Custer
Hollow Road, Clarksburg, WV. The fixed fall restraint system(s) shall
be for work occurring at heights above six feet. The design shall be
capable of supporting (4) four employees moving the length of the
precast or glass atrium without having to disconnect from the fixed
fall restraint system(s). Fixed fall restraint systems are needed for
sloping exterior and interior precast panels, which maintenance has to
be performed on the caulk joints and gutters. The fixed fall restraint
systems shall be aesthetically designed with the original architecture
of the building. Design of the fixed fall restraint systems shall meet
or exceed the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA) standards and American National Standards
Institute (ANSI) regulations and protocol for fall protection. The WV
Complex has 18 sloping ledges in need of a fixed fall restraint
systems. The building is of precast concrete, steel beam and glass
facade design. The main complex is made up of five modules with three
sloping roofs per module. Each module is approximately 140 feet long,
three floors high. The sloping (2/5) precast is on the south side and
is accessible by doors leading on to the ledges. The sloping precast
concrete surfaces are seven inches thick supported by rebar. Rebar in
precast on horizontal is number 4 @ 2 feet. Vertical rebar is number 5
@ 9 inches. The north side of the building has a glass barrel vault
atrium with 90 degree sides. The south side also includes a sloping
(2/7) glass atrium roof that is approximately 112 feet long. Security
clearances will be required on all of the contractor's employees. The
Government contemplates the award of a Fixed Price type contract as a
result of the solicitation. The tentative release date for the RFP is
9/1/00. All interested parties should submit a written request for
RFP-603129, postmarked no later than 15 days from the date of this
notice. Any requests postmarked after the 15 days will be subject to
the availability of solicitation packages. Telephone requests will not
