The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate with Syncsort, Incorporated of Woodcliff Lake, NJ on a sole-source basis to continue maintenance on SyncSort/MVS, PROC SyncSort, and COBOL Accelerator installed on SSA mainframes in Baltimore, MD. To the Government_s knowledge, Syncsort is the only source that can provide the maintenance, as the software products are proprietary to Syncsort, Incorporated (maintenance includes updates and revisions to the source code). Responsible firms that can provide the maintenance (including updates and revisions to the source code) may notify the contracting officer in writing. Respondents should refer to JCE00-Syncsort-NI. This is not a request for quotations or an announcement of a forthcoming solicitation. Requests for copies of a solicitation in response hereto will not be honored or acknowledged. The Government does not intend to pay for any information submitted in response to this publication. No cost or pricing data is required or requested. All responses from responsible sources will be fully considered. All responses must be received by this office by close of business day August 25, 2000. If no affirmative written responses are received by this date to establish that a comparable source exists, SSA will negotiate with Syncsort, Inc. for the requirements stated above.
