99 -- SUPPLEMENT PUBLICATION IN THE JOURNAL OF ADOLESCENT HEALTH SOL 00-MCHB-64A DUE 090500 POC Frank Murphy (301)443-5165 The Health Resources and Services Administration intends to negotiate under FAR Part 13 -- SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES on a sole source basis with Elsevier Science Inc., 655 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10010-5107 to publish and disseminate a 240-page, peer-reivew Special Supplement in the contractor's publication, the Journal of Adolescent Health. The Supplement is to be comprised of scientific papers on adolescent health developed for the Health Futures of Youth II Conference, along with the findings and recommendations of the conference work group. Since the Journal of Adolescent Health is the only journal in the United States that focuses on multi-disciplinary approaches to adolescent health and is the official publication of the Society for Adolescent Medicine (SAM), Elsevier Science, Inc. is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required work and service under authority in 41 U.S.C.253 (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(I).
