It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), to negotiate on a sole source basis with the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, 231 Albert Sabin Way, Cincinnati, OH 45267 for a continuation of services for the consumer health website, MEDLINEplus. University of Cincinnati was previously issued an award under a competitive basis for services using a custom database input system and unique guidelines to select, maintain, and classify health information. The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is providing professional health sciences librarians who use guidelines to determine the authority of health information and classify it according to the MEDLINEplus organizational structure. This continuation of service will provide the National Library of Medicine the University's staff knowledge of the world wide web and consumer health information resources to select and maintain resources for MEDLINEplus. University of Cincinnati is also responsible for providing the following services: (1) creation of consumer health topic pages by evaluating potential health Internet resources for inclusion; (2) following detailed rules for creation of database records using the methodology described in MEDLINEplus Site Development Procedures; (3) review topic by giving feedback in writing to the Government's Official. University of Cincinnati can provide these services beginning immediately and meet the accuracy standards of the NLM. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 -- Simplified Acquisitions. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotations (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as stated above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
