Description

The Navy Office of Special Technology, located at Ft. Washington, Maryland, has a requirement for services to support the Office of Special Technology (OST). OST has customers that are primarily from Special Operations, Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Intelligence/C4ISR, and Law Enforcement communities, as well as research communities such as the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. At OST, the focus is satisfying the operational needs of the customers by means of development of advanced prototypes, equipment improvement, and technical support. OST is also required to work according to formal defense acquisition practices as they relate to the transition of new systems to the field. The contractor shall provide labor, material, and facilities in support of research and development activities at OST. The work encompasses prototype development, technical and management services, and support to the field during evaluation. This contract shall provide access to state-of-the-art technology and industry experts and a means to rapidly build new equipment. This contract shall also provide a mechanism by which limited numbers of prototypes are procured, but it does not cover production of significant quantities. All services under this acquisition shall be performed under task orders, as required. The solicitation will be issued on or about 2 October 2000. The proposals will be due 45 days from the date issued, unless amended. This solicitation will be issued in conjunction with, and as part of a combined proposed solicitation to be issued by the Army Material Command Acquisition Center, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland (solicitation number DAAD05-00-R-7044; posted on CBDNet 4 August 2000).
