Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is the lead organization for a one-year initiative to create a Qualified Products List (QPL) for the Joint Service Lightweight Suit Technology (JSLIST) garment. The effort will evaluate the performance characteristics of additional candidate liner and/or shell materials configured to the standard 45-day garment requirement. The initial plan is to accept garments configured as suits and conduct field durability trials with Marines. Items deemed durable will then be subjected to performance measurements. Successful items will be listed in a JSLIST QPL. Currently, a need of 200-suits for each subject material is anticipated for supporting qualification testing. It is not anticipated that any contracts will be awarded directly from this effort, but the QPL will serve as the source for all future competitive JSLIST material purchases. Concurrently, the effort will entertain alternative design and material configurations submitted as industry initiated demonstration products. Changes to doctrine and training (unless needed for donning and doffing of the new design) are beyond the scope of this limited QPL effort but any merits observed in these demonstration products will be documented for the benefit of future programs. The Government will not pay for the cost of any product submitted for qualification testing nor for any information obtained as a result of this RFI. Oversight of the effort will consist of a panel with both government & industrial representatives. An Industry Day meeting to discuss the program is planned for 26-27 October 2000 at the Natick Soldier Center auditorium. Additional information will be provided at MARCORSYSCOM's Web Page at URL http://www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil/mcscctq/jamr.htm. If interested in attending the Industry Day, please provide company name, address, phone/fax, point of contract, size of business, and anticipated number of attendees to frazierly@mcsc.usmc.mil by close of business 29 Sep 2000. The Government will publish a list of those interested in attending on the MARCORSYSCOM Web Page.
