Description
The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) intends to issue a competitive solicitation on or about October 11, 2000 for Government contracted physicians to perform independent medical examinations on applicants seeking employment in the Officer Corps (Border Patrol Agents, Criminal Investigators, Immigration Examiners, Deportation Officers, Detention Enforcement Officers, District Adjudication Officers, Immigration Agents, and Immigration Inspectors). INS anticipates awarding an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) type contract containing a base year and four one-year option periods. The Government doesn't anticipate a multiple award as the expected cost of administration of multiple contract outweighs the expected benefits of making multiple awards. Currently, INS estimates the need for approximately 7,500 medical examinations in the base year and first option year and the need for approximately 300 repeat audiograms in the base year and first option year. In the second option year, INS estimates the need for approximately 6,000 medical examinations and 240 repeat audiograms. In the third and fourth option years, INS anticipates the need for approximately 4,500 medical examinations and 180 repeat audiograms. The contractor must be capable of providing nationwide pre-employment medical examinations throughout the United States, and the territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The contractor shall provide: a general physical examination; various body measurements; vision testing; hearing tests (audiogram and repeat audiogram); laboratory tests including urinalysis, complete blood count (CBC), and fasting blood chemistry; Chest X-rays (PA and lateral); an EKG; a pulmonary function test; and physical performance tests including aerobic fitness, upper body strength, lower body strength, and flexibility.
