- Description
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration plans to procure by negotiation the development of enabling technologies in aerospace electrical power systems, hardware components, and software. The research will be in support of reconfiguration, upgrading, and maintenance of the Electrical Power System Test Facility and to support future aerospace exploration and utilization programs at Glenn Research Center (GRC). The work to be performed shall include, but is not necessarily limited to development of electrical power systems, hardware, components, and software to the prototype level. This includes solar electrical power generation, energy storage, electric actuation, power processing, power switching including EPS control strategies, simulations and simulators and their related software implementations to enhance autonomous on-orbit operations with minimum energy and processing resource utilization. The classes of flight programs are the International Space Station, small spacecraft, and aircraft. It is anticipated that multiple contracts will be awarded as the result of the solicitation. The value of each contract will be equivalent to approximately 116,000 work hours. Materials, other direct costs and subcontracts are included in that value. The RFP will contain Sample Tasks. The proposers will be asked to submit Technical Proposals which address those Sample Tasks. Examples of possible Sample Tasks are as follows: Sample Task 1 -- High Voltage Distribution Switchgear Development and Packaging for Reusable Launch Vehicles. Sample Task 2 -- Intelligent Source and Load Converter Design and Development. Sample Task 3 -- Motor Drive System Modeling and Design. Sample Task 4 -- Power Systems Design. Sample Task 5 -- Integrated Vehicle Health Monitoring. Sample Task 6 -- Flywheel Energy Storage Development.
