Description

The Navy requires 13 each Silver/Zinc primary battery cells for use in the missile guidance control set of the PEACEKEEPER missile system. This procurement action will be accomplished in two steps due to funding constraints. The base year will be funded in FY01 and will be for the procurement of materials and some initial testing and data requirements. There will be an option to be exercised with FY02 funds for the actual manufacture and delivery of the batteries. Batteries are to be manufactured IAW Critical Item Development Specification for Missile X Electronics Battery; S-118-41037 Parts I and II. The specification contains a requirement for use of QUINORGO 6000 separator material. No substitutions will be allowed for this material. Delivery of the batteries is estimated to be required approximately 12 months after award and will be FOB NSWC Crane, IN 47522. The 13 batteries procured will undergo destructive testing at NSWC Crane to insure they meet performance and drawing specifications. A later procurement is anticipated for production quantities. The Government will make available assorted Government Furnished Property (tooling) on an "as is" basis. The applicable NAICS Classification is 335912 and the size standard is 1000 employees.
