Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIRSYSCOM) intends to negotiate a sole source firm fixed price modification to contract N00019-00-C-0184 with McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company, to incorporate commercial technology into both the T-45A Air Data Recorder (ADR) and the T-45C Signal Data Computer (SDC) equipment to provide a single fleet common data recorder. This modernization will allow improved quality of engine life usage and increase engine component life. The consolidated T-45A ADR and T-45C SDC data recorders will be a single configuration Advanced Signal Data Computer (ASDC) for both aircraft models. Boeing will adapt commercial hardware and software elements required to test and demonstrate the enhanced engine monitoring system along with the retrofit kits for both the T-45A ADR and the T-45C SDC. This will upgrade both the production configuration and fielded fleet equipment with a commercially based open system processor and memory card with commercially based high order language software. The ADR/SDC common core processor design is based on commercial technology and open standards, and will be integrated into the existing system backplane. The ASDC will be a PC platform with Flash memory, SDRAM, NOVRAM, and will incorporate both a 1553 as well as an RS-422 communications interface. NAVAIRSYSCOM plans to award the contract to The Boeing Company, P O Box 516, St Louis MO 63166-0516.
