Description
This Bureau of Reclamation is seeking sources of potential suppliers (manufacturers) of an automatic trash cleaning system for Headgate Rock Dam Hydroelectric Powerplant on the Colorado River near Parker, AZ. Headgate Rock Powerplant consists of three horizontal type turbine-generating units. The automatic trash cleaning system is to be located on the intake side of each turbine-generator. Each of the turbine-generators intake bays contain a trashrack. The trashracks are approximately 35 ft across and 47 ft long, and installed on a 30 degree from vertical slope and have rectangular steel bars on 4-inch centers. The facility is currently equipped with a hydraulic rake with a 4-foot wide head that is nearing the end of its service life. Currently the rake removes an average of 1200-pounds of trash from each bay per cleaning cycle, during the heavy season. The scope of work will include removal of the current trash rake and removal or modification of the current trash racks as necessary to function with the system provided. The automatic trash cleaning system equipment should be simple and substantial in design, easily assembled, inspected, adjusted, and capable of one complete cleaning cycle for all three turbine inlets every two hours. The system shall operate from an elevation of 335.71, above sea-level, to an elevation of 376.50 (top of the parapet) or higher to suit system. The system shall be able to operate on all three turbine-generators, individually or simultaneously and be able to remove grass, moss, branches, small logs, stumps, floating debris, stringy aquatic weeds, and large quantities of tumbleweeds (submerged and floating), under the following general criteria: (1)Constructed in accordance with the Manual of Steel Construction (AISC; (2) The system shall be capable of operating with a maximum headwater surface elevation of 372.00. (Bottom elevation of existing trashrack is 335.71 above sea-level.)(3)The system shall be capable of operating in a maximum flow condition of 6,200 cubic-feet-per-second at a average velocity of 11 feet-per-second, (maximum velocity 14 feet-per-second), through each of the three generating unit bays. (4) Designed to minimize the differential head across the automatic trash cleaning system and be able to operate with a maximum differential head of 24 inches at the maximum water surface elevation.(5)To be fully-automatic, and capable of being operated manually.(6)To be capable of immediate operation, after standing idle for several months and having received only routine maintenance during the idle period. (7)To have emergency stop controls, with warning and operational devices. (8)To operate in adverse weather conditions, ambient temperatures from 0o Fahrenheit to 130o Fahrenheit, and resistance to seismic forces. (9)The system shall have over-travel, out-of-alignment, and over-load type of protection. (10)The cleaning system shall deposit the trash, over the existing parapet onto the service deck, or onto a conveyor or trash collection system. (11)The scheduling and duration of a plant or unit outage will be a consideration. Interested sources should submit the following written information at NO COST or obligation to the Government to the above point of contact no later than close of business on February 12, 2001: their name, address, telephone, fax numbers, detailed information concerning an integrated system approach, description of components, any brochures/literature of your company and shop drawings of similar installations.
