Description

The Special Operations Forces Mission Planning Office (SOFMPO), Ft. Eustis, VA 23604 is interested in purchasing several printers. After assessing the printer requirements described below, all interested parties are requested to to submit information on any available printers that meet the specifications. Also, request that any responding vendor provide a printer for temporary evaluation. The quantity of purchase could be as many as 114. The Description/specification/work statment for the SOF COTS Mission Planning Printers is as follows: C-1 General. This document describes the characteristics of a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) printer to support Special Operations Forces PC based mission planning. The following specifications are MINIMUM requirements that must be met. C-1.2 Printing Method: Printer shall be either Color LaserJet or Color Inkjet technology, using 4 colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black), and compatible with Windows 9x, 2000 and NT. C-1.3 Resolution: The printer resolution shall be 740 x 740 dpi or better. C-1.4 Printer Speed: The printer speed shall support color and monochrome printing with at least 7PPM. Prefer print speed for A2 sizes (16.5" x 23.4") to be approximately .16PPM (10 min per page). C-1.5 Paper Types: The printer shall be capable of utilizing plain, bond, photo quality film & paper. Additionally, prefer banner paper capability. C-1.6 Paper Sizes: The printer shall be capable of utilizing paper sizes up to 17" (including letter, legal, 11"x 17" formats). Prefer paper sizes up to A2, including banner. C-1.7 Printable Area: The margins of the live print area shall not exceed the following for any size: In portrait orientation, page margins defining printable area shall be: top and bottom margins shall be less than or equal to 0.5 inch; left and right margins shall be less than or equal to 0.25 inch. In landscape orientation, page margins defining printable area shall be: top and bottom margins shall be less than or equal to 0.25 inch; left and right margins shall be less than or equal to 0.5 inch. C-1.8 Printer Interface: The print interface shall be bi-directional Parallel Interface or USB. Printer shall be capable of networking via a NIC on a 10/100 Base T network in a Windows 9x workgroup, at a minimum. A cable with a minimum length of 3 feet shall be provided. C-1.9 Printer Internal Memory: The printer shall provide a minimum print capability via internal print server software utilizing a 64 KB buffer or a minimum of 128MB print hardware memory. C-1.10 Printer Shipping and Setup Requirement: The printer must be transportable in a government provided Hard Case. Printer technology must provide for very minimal shipping configuration and setup. Must be able to print on demand, with no extensive calibration requirement after being rapidly shipped to an intended place of operation. C-1.11 Printer Weight: The printer weight shall not exceed 100 lbs. C-1.12 Printer Power Requirement: The printer power requirements shall be 110-130V AC, 60 Hz (North America) and 240 VAC at 50Hz (Continental Europe), either through adapter or universal adaptation device. C-1.13 Printer Miscellaneous: Cartridges (initial), cables, connectors, device drivers, etc. not specifically defined but required for the specified hardware to function with Windows 98/NT/2000, shall be provided with the system. Additionally, shall provide for separate price options for various quantities of bulk purchases of printer paper and spare cartridges. C-1.14 Printer Warranty: The printer warranty will be for three years on all parts, labor and shipping. A three (3) day turn around will be required in CONUS and seven (7) days OCONUS.
