- Description
- As part of a market survey, the Naval Air Systems Command and its field activity Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWPNS), China Lake, CA are seeking information about existing mathematical algorithms which can be used to quickly and accurately process large quantities of image information. The image processing algorithms will be loaded into existing processors, such as those used by Pentium based personal computers, to quickly process EO, IR, and SAR imagery. The amount of imagery which will be stored for simultaneous processing may be as many as 2000 digitized scenes. Algorithms which employ training should minimize training passes as a time-saving feature. The subject algorithms will provide the capability to compact the image data in order to minimize the required computer memory as much as possible. The Navy's interest is in algorithms which provide the capability to perform real time pattern recognition correlations of the stored imagery with real time imagery. Possible uses of the pattern recognition capabilities include autonomous real time comparison of stored target scenes with real time scenes in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's) and autonomous target recognition and multiple target tracking of ships and land targets by standoff missiles and/or UAV's. The intent of this announcement is to survey the sources and capabilities of already developed image processing algorithms which perform the tasks discussed above. The subject algorithms must exist and be non-developmental, preferably with currently deployed or fielded commercial or government applications. Respondees to this announcement should provide a description of their algorithms, computer memory and throughput requirements, and a description of pattern recognition and target tracking tasks currently being performed by those algorithms. Also, they should identify the current users of their commercial software package, and discuss interface requirements. Training requirements, if any, should be described. Respondees shall clearly mark any information which is proprietary and/or patented. No classified information shall be sent. This announcement is a request for information only and is not an RFP or announcement of a solicitation. Respondents may not be notified of the results of this request for information. Responses are required to be submitted no later than 4:00 PM PST on March 5, 2001. No vendors' conference is anticipated. Mailed responses should be addressed to Commander, Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, ATTN: Anita Dale, Code 210000D, 1 Administration Circle, China Lake, CA 93555-6100. Fax and email responses are authorized. FAX to the attention of Ms. Dale at 760-939-4241 or 760-939-8107, or email responses to dalear@navair.navy.mil. Additional information may be obtained from the technical point of contact, Dr. Lowell Wilkins, NAWCWPNS Code 47HCOOD, by telephoning 760-939-4103 or by emailing wilkinslh@navair.navy.mil.
