Description
The Government maintains a Command and Data Acquisition Station (CDAS) at Fairbanks, Alaska for the primary purpose of acquiring meteorological and environmental satellite mission data from polar-orbiting satellites managed and/or operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC). This facility is NOAA's primary data acquisition (read-out) facility for its polar-orbiting operational environmental satellites. The Station has automated and upgraded much of its telemetry, transmit, and command antennas, as well as the monitoring and control equipment. This modernization and automation shift requires a sustained effort by Station Contractor Management to keep abreast of this rapidly changing radio frequency technology. Ongoing technology changes are expected over the next few years as NOAA continues to evolve its fleet of satellite platforms and accommodate new mission support requirements. As a result of these upgrades, NOAA/NESDIS CDAS Fairbanks requires industry review and comment for the follow-on contract to the Operation and Maintenance of CDA Station Fairbanks. Work includes management, administration, operation, operational maintenance, facilities maintenance, logistic support, documentation, and other services necessary to effectively and efficiently support the CDA Station's NOAA polar orbiting, meteorological spacecraft missions, NASA VLBI mission, and other secondary missions. The follow-on contract is to begin o/a July 1, 2002. Please provide all questions/comments via hard copy, fax or email to Contract Specialist Paul Reed no later than 03/20/01. Fax number for Paul Reed is: (206)526-6025 and his e-mail address is: Paul.J.Reed@noaa.gov. For a copy of the specification, contact Crystina Elkins at (206)526-4499.
