Description

Provide the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) with all labor, materials, equipment, supplies and supervision to upgrade the Stand-By power system for the DOE-HQ facility, located in Germantown, Maryland. The project will involve removing six existing diesel generator systems; three remove radiator buildings; three underground fiberglass double walled fuel storage tanks; and, modifying the emergency power distribution system throughout the facility. Provide a new emergency exit from the main underground generator facility and all associated building modifications and landscaping required to accommodate the installation of one 1750 kW diesel generator set to supply the standby power needs to the existing Emergency Power Switchboard feeding the entire facility. Bids will include, as individual line items, any salvage value associated with each of the six diesel generator sets being removed, and each of the three underground fiberglass double walled fuel tanks (two-10,000 liters, and one-8,000 liter), and all excess fuel contained in those tanks. Fuel tanks were toped off in December, 1999 and are all in excess of 90% full. A site visit(s) will be conducted at the project. Information regarding the date, time and location of the site visit will be provided in the solicitation. This acquisition is unrestricted and is not set-aside for small business in accordance with the SBA Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The magnitude of the project is between $1.0 million and $5.0m. For information purposes, the NAICS code is 235310.
