Description

The Forest Service requires a contract proposal to design a revegetation plan for a 20-acre landslide on the Stevensville Ranger District, Bitterroot National Forest, Ravalli County, Montana. The plan will need to utilize the most current bioengineering techniques in order to aid in stabilization of the slide, with emphasis on the hydraulic properties of plant roots to relieve pressure on the slope and encourage sediment trapping. Native plant materials from locally adapted seed sources are encouraged. An analysis of soil pH and mineral content will need to be completed prior to determining the appropriate seed mix for grass and forb species. Soil amendments will be added to correct for important deficiencies in order to obtain the best germination and plant growth response. The contractor will need to have access to a hydromulcher to apply mulch, fertilizer, and grass seed. The hydromulcher needs to be capable of spraying material up to 200 feet up or down slope. Geotextile fabrics or bonded fiber matrix may need to be applied in areas that are more difficult to reach with the hydromulcher. This project will be advertised as a written quotation, and will be solicited under the Simplified Acquisition Procurement (SAP) rules. Quotes are due March 26, 2001. The estimated start work date is April 16, 2001. The performance period is 6 months. All responsible sources may submit a quote which will be considered.
