Description

Note 22. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) intends to procure 4 nautical miles of Heavy Armored Trunk (HAT) cable from Alcatel Submarine Networks, Inc., 15540 North Lombard Street, Portland, OR 97203. Alcatel is currently under contract to provide SPAWAR with 23 nautical miles of HAT. The 4 additional miles would bring the total to 27 nautical miles. Alcatel will produce the last 4 nautical miles of HAT on the same line and at the same time as the other 23 miles. It will most likely not be a separate piece, which will save SPAWAR money. Also, it is unlikely any other source can provide this small amount of cable for a reasonable price.
