Description

In addition to the 13 pre-production Silver/Zinc primary battery cells being procured the Navy intends to include options for production quantities for use in the missile guidance control set of the PEACEKEEPER missile system. This is a change from the earlier intent to do a separate follow on production contract. These options will be for manufacture of 12 batteries each year for five years, to be funded in FYs 02-06. Of those 12 batteries each year, two will undergo lot acceptance testing at the contractor's facility with the remaining 10 to be delivered to Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, IN. Delivery shall be FOB Crane, IN with inspection and acceptance of the production quantities at destination. In addition, the Navy will consider proposed substitutions of equivalent material for the Quinorgo 6000 separator material. The solicitation is now anticipated to be available on or about 23 February 2001 via the Internet at the NAVSURFWARCENDIV Crane Homepage at http://www.crane.navy.mil and will close on or about 28 March 2001.
