Description
Create a bed control system that has the bed change approval process and associated documentation integrated with the database used to store bed levels changes. The major objectives of this project are to: -Migrate bed control database from a MUMPS system to a Microsoft SQL Server system and transfer all historical data into the new database. (Server will be maintained at the Austin Automation Center in Austin, TX) -- Web-enable all front-end interfaces to the database. This includes the front end used by the hospitals to initiate bed level changes as well as the front-end used to report on the number of beds or any changes to bed levels that are pending. -Create web-based reports that display pending bed requests and visually display where the request is in the approval process. These reports should be available based on bed service, hospital number or VISN number. -Store all requested changes to bed levels by hospital, bed service, type of bed (authorized versus operating) , and date of the request. -Report numbers of hospital beds at the 5-digit station number level for predefined bed services as of the most current date or as of any date that the user indicates. -Automate the approval process so that the concurrence route is automatically determined based on the type of bed change request made. -Microsoft Exchange should be the system used for routing the bed change request through the approval process as well as moving all associated documentation. -Link the approvals via MS Exchange to changes in the bed database. -Create mail alerts when requests for approvals have gone unattended. -Build in security such that requesting/approval permissions are driven off of the NT Userid. -Permanently maintain the documentation used to justify bed level changes in a document management system so that documents and all revisions can be located and associated with the original bed change request. Include comments received from program offices as part of the associated documentation. For technical questions, please call Kathy Frisbee 703-476-8783
