Description
The U.S. Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM), Research, Development and Engineering Center (RDEC) seeks technical information for a non-developmental device that will act reliably as an engine starter and generator for reciprocating compression ignition (diesel) engines. THIS IS ONLY A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. AT THIS TIME, THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO PURCHASE ANY PRODUCTS OR SERVICES. The Government is interested in a device that provides for the following two operating modes: 1. Application of 24V battery power to the device for cranking the engine 2. After starting the engine, the device will: generate DC power for internal battery charging and controls; and, provide simultaneous DC output suitable for an inverter to produce AC power for external loads.
