Description
The Naval Air Systems Command intends to negotiate and award a firm fixed price modification to existing Contract N00019-00-C-0114 for the Redesign, Development, and Testing of the Forward Throttle and Aft Throttle Box in the T-45 Lighting Mockup on a sole source basis to the only known source, McDonnell Douglas Corporation (a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of the Boeing Company), located in St. Louis, MO. The purpose of these changes is to eliminate inadvertent in-flight engine shutdowns and eliminate ground tailpipe fires caused by inadvertent movement of the throttle following engine shutdown. Specifically, the effort includes a redesign of the forward and aft idle cutoff lever return springs, a forward idle cutoff lever redesign, a retention of throttle lever at HP cutoff design, a test plan, and a final report. The current effort will be complete by 1 May 2001. McDonnell Douglas Corporation is the original manufacturer, and only known source, possessing the requisite knowledge, experience, special tooling, and technical data required to perform the modifications to the forward and aft throttle box in the T-45 lighting mockup. Notes 22 and 26 apply. AIR-Synopsis No. *****
