Description

A -- LIQUID LEVEL MEASUREMENT. This is a potential technology development and licensing opportunity with Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), the prime operating contractor for the Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). BBWI has developed a new application of a proven, well- established technology relating to accurate detection and measurement of level of liquids in harsh environments. The new application is measurement of Liquid Metal level in continuous casting molds for process control. The novelty of this approach is the simplicity of the measurement and probe construction, potential low cost as well as safety compared to the existing technologies (eddy-current probes and use of radioactive source) now employed to perform the same task. BBWI is seeking a written indication of interest from industry partners who would consider funding the INEEL to perform collaborative technology development and entering into a royalty-bearing license agreement for the purpose of developing and commercializing this technology. This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to BBWI or the Department of Energy. This Request for Interest (RFI) will close for responses 45 days after publication.
