Description
The project encompasses renovation of approximately 1571 square feet of space on the fourth (4th) floor of the James O. Eastland Post Office/Courthouse. It includes renovation of an existing holding cell and construction of one additional holding cell and one isolation cell. Hazardous materials (asbestos and lead based paint) abatement is involved, subsequent demolition of interior partition walls and new construction of interior partition walls. The construction of new partition walls consists of steel stud and gypsum board and masonry assemblies. Door construction consists of wood and steel, and wire mesh detention doors, all with various types of metal frames, and standard builders and security/detention hardware. New interior detention screens are to be utilized over the existing windows in the secured area of the space. A stainless steel countertop with detention screen above is utilized in the Attorney/Prisoner Interview area. One (1) existing cell is to be refurbished with a new stainless steel bench, toilet fixture and modesty screen added. Two (2) new cells are to be constructed with stainless steel benches, toilet fixtures and modesty screens included. Interior architectural woodwork includes base cabinets with countertops and upper wall hung cabinetry, other cabinetry also includes ballistic glazing above. Interior finish materials include terrazzo and carpeted floors, existing wood base, vinyl wall covering, painted and glazed block walls, acoustic lay-in and steel security ceilings, as well as, other painted surfaces. Mechanical work consists of HVAC and plumbing demolition and new work. Electrical work consists of demolition and new construction of electrical power, lighting, communications, and fire and intrusion alarm systems. Estimated time of completion of this prouect is 201 calender days. Estimated cost is between $250,000 and $500,000. Solication is to be issued on or about April 2, 2001. North American Industry Classification System code is 233320 and is open to small businesses only. The small business size standard are those having average annual sales during the last three years that do not exceed $27.5 million dollars. Written and faxed request only.
