Description

1. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Alaska District Corps of Engineers requires the purchase of a new exploration drill machine. The drilling machine will be a combination auger, core rotary type boring and subsurface exploration drilling machine built into a specially designed low contact pressure, track carrier. It must be of the dimensions and weight to be transported in a Hercules C-130 aircraft to remote locations in Alaska. This equipment shall be used for soil sampling foundation testing, monitoring well installation and subsurface exploration work. It shall be capable of performing auger borings in permafrost soils (frozen silts), dense unconsolidated formations (glacial tills) and soft bedrock (weathered schist). The unit shall be completely assembled and ready for operation when delivered. Detailed specifications and specific requirements are presented in the statement of work package.
