- The U.S. Coast Guard has decided not to set aside an acquisition for dry-dock repairs to the USCGC BEAR (WMEC-901) 270 foot Medium Indurance Cutter Drydock and Repair Availability for HUBZone concerns only due to only one available source. The solicitation will be issued electronically via FEDBIZOPPS on or about March 07,2001. This acquisition is for dry-dock repairs to the USCGC BEAR (WMEC-901) 270 foot ship. the small business size dtandard is less than 1000 employees. All work must be performed within the.USA. Trained welders, who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures, shall accomplish all welding and brazing. At the preset time, this acquisition will be issued set aside for small Business procedures. However, in accordance with FAR 19.1305, if your firm is HUBZone certified and intends to submit an offer on this acquisition, please respond by e-mail to Bbaechle@mlca.uscg.mil or by fax (757) 628-4675/76. Questions may be referred to Mr. F. Barat Baechle at (757) 628-4652. In your response please include the following: (a) a positive statement of your intent to submit a bid for this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, points of contact and telephone numbers and (c) past performance references with points of contact and phone numbers. At least two references are requested, but more are desirable. Your response is required by 10 days from the date of this posting. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on a HUBZone set aside. Failure to submit all information requested may result in a set-aside for small Business acquisition. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set aside or on a set aside for small Business will be posted in the CBD. The performance period is for 42 days. Provide all labor, material and equipment necessary to perform dry-dock repairs to the, USCGC BEAR (WMEC-901) Coast Guard Vessel length is 270 feet 8 inches; breadth is 37 feet, 9 inches. Vessel homeport is Portsmouth, Virginia.. The performance period for is forth-two (42) calendar days starting 04 June 2001. The place of performance is t geographically restricted to 75 miles of home moorings in accordance with homeport policy COMDTINST 3100 5. The following repairs include (1) Preserve Voids and Ballast Tanks (2) Renew Shaft Covering (3) Overhaul Stern Tube Seals (4) Remove and Reinstall Controllable Pitch Propeller Hubs (5) Service Both Onboard Controllable Pitch Propeller systems (6) Preserve the Transducer Hull Rings and Renew the Depth Indicating Transducers (7)Preserve the Transducer Hull Ring/Renew DSN-450 Doppler Speed Log Transducer (8) Overhaul and Test Valves (9) Service Rudder Assemblies (10) Renew Fin Stabilizer Seals and Bearings (11) Renew Fin Shaft Sleeve (12) Overhaul Anchor(s) and Anchor Chains(s) (13) Preserve Chain Lockers (14) Preserve Underwater Body (15) Renew Cathodic Protection System (16) Ultrasonic Testing (17) Provide Temporary Logistics (18) Routine Drydocking 919) Metal Renewal (20) Install New Waste Oil Holding Tank and Associated Piping (22) Renew oily Waste Separator System All reference documents are available for viewing at 300 East Main Street, Suite 600, Norfolk, VA. Drawings are now available on CD-ROM. The CD-ROM sets are available for all cutters and will be provided free of charge. The CD-ROM(s) contain WINDOWS compliant raster/vector formats (e.g. *.TIF, *.TIF (group4), *.DWG, and *.DWF, etc.) Drawings are also still available in hard copy. A non-refundable charge of $150.00 is required in the form of a certified check or money order made payable to the U.S. Coast Guard for requested drawings. The proposed contract listed here is set aside for small businesses only. Plans and specifications will be issued on or after 24 February 2001.
