Description

Contractor shall provide all labor and materials necessary to construct a new Weather Service Forecast Office (WFO) located at the Caribou Airport, 810 Main Street, Caribou, Maine. The project includes but is not limited to the following: (1) approximately 8,400 square feet of office storage and research space in a single story building with masonry walls, wood roof trusses and a metal roof; (2) Utility connections, asphalt paving, and exterior lighting; (3) Relocation of existing weather monitoring equipment; (4) Installation of new antenna pads and towers. The project includes many "green building/sustainable design" features and processes which will qualify this facility for the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Level Certification. The contractor shall be required to submit documentation to certify compliance with these special requirements. Some of the "green building/sustainable design" features include but are not limited to the following: (1) Geothermal heat pump HVAC system; (2) Use of local materials (within a 500 mile radius of the project site); (3) Use of materials with recycled content; (4) Recycling construction waste; (5) Use of materials with low emissions (VOCs); (6) Use of water saving and energy efficient mechanical fixtures and equipment; (7) Use of day lighting and multiple switching to reduce lighting energy consumption. The Governemnt estimate for the project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Performance period is 365 days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Place of performance is the National Weather Service, Weather Forecast Office, 810 Main Street, Caribou, Maine. Bid Performance and Payment Bonds are required. This is a 100% small business set-aside. All responsible small business sources may submit a bid wich will be considered.
