Description

A Market Survey is being conducted to determine if there are adequate SBA Certified 8(a) firms in the areas serviced by the Regions 4, 5, and 7 of the Small Business Administration (SBA) to set this proposed procurement aside for 8(a) firms serviced by the SBA Regions 4, 5, and 7 Offices. The proposed procurement will be for the Construction of a Munitions Storage Complex at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. The work will consist of constructing 20 earth covered magazines and a maintenance/inspection (M/I) building. Each magazine is 14 feet wide and 21 feet in length. The magazines shall have concrete floors and knee walls with steel arch roofs. The M/I building will be a 2000 SF CMU structure with a metal roof. Extensive earth work will be required to raise the 4 acre site in elevation by 3 feet and to cover the magazines with 2 feet of earth. The NAICS Code is 234930 (SIC Code 1629). The estimated cost range is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. The construction contract is expected to be awarded in July 2001 and be completed by November 2002. All interested SBA certified 8(a) firms serviced by the SBA Region 4 (AL, GA, KY, MS, NC, SC, FL, TN), Region 5 (IL, MN, MI, WI, OH, IN), and Region 7 (MO, IA, NE, KS) Offices should notify this office in writing by mail or by fax by March 16, 2001, 4:00 pm EST. Responses should include: (1) Identification of company as SBA certified 8(a); (2) firm's experience on similar projects both in scope and cost, including data on performance with phone numbers of references; and (3) Evidence of bonding capacity (performance and payment) for an individual project of this size.
