Description

SOURCES SOUGHT: The U. S. Department of Commerce, Atlantic Oceanic and Meterological Laboratory, intends to procure six ocean temperature Profiling Autonomous Lagrangian Circulation (PALACE) floats. The objective of this acquisition of aircraft launched expendable floats is to support the U. S. Navy operational forecast functions. These floats shall be capable of drifting with the current, remaining neutrally buoyant at a pre-determined depth, ascending slowly to the surface at pre-programmed intervals, making profile measurements during the ascent, and transmitting data via satellite at the surface. They will provide sea profile measurements of salinity, temperature, and pressure. Deep current velocities will be calculated by positions determined through Service Argos. The floats shall consist of a buoyancy bladder pumping system, sensor/data collection system, Argos transmitter, and an air deployment system. The floats shall be capable of operating unattended for periods of time of up to 24 months and shall report data through the TIROS (ARGOS) satellite system for data dissemination and platform position determination. The NAICS code 334512 applies. The small business standard size is 500 employees. Any business source capable of providing the exact make and model of equipment referenced herein is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice in the Commerce Business Daily. This is not a request for proposals and there is no solicitation available at this time.
