Description
The University of California, which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, solicits Letters of Interest from companies interested in obtaining commercial license rights to an "Ultra-Bright Source of Polarization-Entangled Photons" ("Technology"). The Technology is embodied in nonprovisional patent application filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The Technology is, in part, described in Physical Review A, 60, R773, 1999. In order to successfully commercialize this Technology, the licensee(s) may need to collaborate with LANL staff. Any company interested in licensing the Technology must respond with a Letter of Interest that provides a description of the company's (1) business and business goals; (2) managing officers and board of directors; (3) technical staff and resources; (4) financial resources; (5) manufacturing and marketing capabilities; and (6) motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Respondents are encouraged to provide ancillary documentation such as annual reports, corporate resumes, and website addresses. The Letter of Interest must provide this information or the respondent will not be considered as a qualified respondent. The Letter of Interest must be received on or before 13 April 2001. Qualified respondents will be required to submit a comprehensive business plan. A decision whether to enter into license negotiations will be based on the University's evaluation of this business plan. Please send Letters of Interest to the attention of John B. Mott, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Civilian & Industrial Technology Program Office, Mail Stop C334, Los Alamos, New Mexico, 87545. For further information contact Dr. Mott by phone [505-665-0883], fax [505-665-6127], or email [jmott@lanl.gov].
