Description
It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) to purchase thirteen (13) each, Domestic Hamadryas Male Baboons. The weight must be 8 to 12 kg. These animals must have been borne in a domestic primate colony and be of a known age. Wild caught baboons are not acceptable. The animals will be tested within 90 days of shipment by serology for these agents: Rubeola, SA6, SA8, HSV 1 and 2, Epstein-Barr Virus, Simian Hemorrhagic Fever, Cytomegalovirus. They will also be checked for fecal ova, internal and external parasites. Fecal cultures will be done. The animals must have a history of negative tuberculin skin tests with at least 3 TB tests performed within 7 months of shipping with the most recent test within 30 days of shipment. A complete copy of all procured animal's health records must be supplied including the origin and date of birth. The animals shall not have been subjected to experimental use. Animal health must be guaranteed for 14 days after receipt of the animals. The health status will be determined by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) veterinarian. If an animal health is determined to be unacceptable by an NIH veterinarian within 14 days of receipt, then the animal will be replaced by the vendor. The rejected animal will be returned to the vendor at the vendor's expense. The animals must be shipped to the National Institutes of Health, Animal Center, Building 103, 16701 Elmer School Road, Poolesville, Maryland 20837 within thirty (30) days of acceptance of award. Shipping arrangements will be made by NIH personnel. Crate and test charges must be included in the proposal. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures. This requirement is under the North America Industry classification System (NAICS) number 112519, Size Standard $0.5Million is applicable for this requirement. There are no set aside restrictions for this acquisition. Award will be made based on delivery time, lowest price and the Government specifications requested in this synopsis. The bidder shall submit with the proposal the delivery time, prompt payment discount terms, shipping charges, Dun's & Bradstreet number (DUNS) and the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). The proposals are due fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this synopsis or April 12, 2001, whichever is later at 1:00 P.M. Eastern time. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency. Proposals must be submitted in writing to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, Rockledge Building 2, Suite 6042, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, Maryland 20817-7902, Attention: Ms. Cecilia Morales, Purchasing Agent. Fax proposals will only be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative.
