- Description
- It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine, Division of Specialized Information Services (SIS) to negotiate on a sole source basis with Dr. Mark Thoman, Des Moines, Iowa for Toxicology Information services. Dr. Thoman will review and evaluate the text written by R. P. Ryan & C. E. Terry's entitled "Toxicology Desk Reference, Volumes 1-3, The Toxic Exposure and Medical Monitoring Index" 5th ed., 1999-2000. He will provide technical direction and medical expertise as well as advisory services for extracting chemical specific medical monitoring data for inclusion into the Medical Surveillance (MEDS) data field of the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB). Dr. Thoman's will provide guidance, advice and review MEDLINEplus topics, HSDB health effects summaries created to provide consumer level information from the long technical HSDB records, review of content and interfaces for other technical data, and other advisory services for the SIS program. Dr. Thoman is a board certified clinical toxicologist who has 40 years of extensive experience in relation to chemical exposure and its adverse effects in children and adults. He is the former President and life long member of Society of Clinical Toxicologist. His 40 years of knowledge and expertise of medical surveillance will enhance the scientific accuracy of the medical monitoring information for the HSDB file. This is not a Request for Quotations(RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsible and responsive sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the NLM. Firms interested in responding to this notice must be able to provide professional service as specified as listed above. Responses should sufficiently demonstrate the firm's ability to meet the government's requirements. Responses are required within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice.
