Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML), Miami, FL intends to procure 41 WOTAN Drifters (aka "WOCE Surface Velocity Wind Speed/Direction Barometer Drifters" or WSD/BP Drifters). These drifters shall be capable of operating in the open sea and following water parcels vertically averaged over a drogue of height 6-7 meters entered (15 or 100) meters below the water surface. The drifters will provide measurements of wind speed, wind direction, barometric pressure, and sea surface temperature. Water mass drift (15 or 100 meters depth) will be calculated by positions determined through Service Argos. Solicitation No. 52WCNR106027SKC will be available on or around May 14, 2001. This is a Small Business Set-aside. The small business size standard is 500 employees. The NAICS code is 339112.
