- Description
- The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) intends to purchase One Hybrid Quadrupole-Time-of-Flight Tandem Mass Spectrometer with both a Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Source (MALDI-TOF) and a (nano) Electrospray Source (ESI) for the Identification of Protein Digests. Specific potential applications of the instrument include, but are not limited to: identification of posttranslationally modified peptides, especially phosphopeptides, from tryptic digests; identification of the sites of modification of posttranslationally modified peptides; MS/MS based identification of proteolytic digests of proteins and protein mixtures; The instrument must have a hybrid quadrupole/time-of-flight analyzer. Mass Range of 2-10000 is required. Primary ionization source-matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization capable of accommodating PEBiosystems MALDI targets. Secondary ionization source-nano electrospray source. Routine negative ion capabilities under data systems control. Mass accuracy >20 ppm with an external calibration; Mass resolution of MS/MS scans -- 10,000; Sensitivity-Interpretable MS/MS spectra should be obtainable from 200 femtomole peptide sample. MS/MS modes-Interpretable daughter ion; Software should be capable of detecting an LC peak, selecting a molecular ion and initiating an MS/MS scan for HPLC separations combined with ESI. Integrated biological application software package is recommended. Software site-license, System installation, startup and initial on-site instructions shall be included. One-year warrant from date of acceptance of complete order is required. Foreground/background data system operation is recommended. Used equipment is not acceptable. This is a synopsis/solicitation for commercial items in accordance with FAR 12.6. Sources may submit descriptive literature which fully demonstrate that their product meets the required specifications. Issue Date: 5/16/01
