Description

The US Army TACOM intends to negotiate a cost-only, no-fee contract with the Keweenau Research Center (KRC) of Michigan Tech University, on a sole-source basis. The work is for design & development of a lightweight, cost-effective dump body kit for the FMTV that will increase the life & payload over the current steel body. KRC will conduct modeling, simulation, and structural finite analysis on the GFE vehicle in generating design alternatives. Additionally the work will integrate a commercially-available 6-man crew cab onto the FMTV dump body variant. Finally, KRC will develop and deliver engineering & technical data for preparation of a level 3 TDP and configuration data. This is a continuation of related preliminary design work also conducted by KRC under a separate contract #DAAE07-00-C-L537. The period of performance will be approximately 12-13 months. Note 22 applies, based on KRC's prior experience and unique capabilities. Subcontracting opportunites may exist, but would not be substantial.
