- Description
- The contractor shall perform a wide variety of duties connected with the applied research, development, test and evaluation of rubber materials. The contractor shall be knowledgeable in the areas of rubber formulation, mixing, processing and vulcanization of rubber products. The contractor shall be cognizant of the specification and performance requirements on elastomers used for military track vehicles to include bushings, roadwheel, track pads and roadwheel path rubber. The contractor shall have knowledge of the material development efforts for track pads by ARL and the associated ARL patents for the improved performance tank pads compounds based on HNBR. As such the contractor must be able to develop methods heat build-up and degradation models that can be used for service life predictive purposes. Period of Performance will be 28 May 2001 through 23 September 2002. It is the intent of the Government to award a contract on a sole source basis to University of Massachusetts Lowell, Department of Plastics Engineering, Lowell, MA pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. The proposed contract action is for applied research, development, test and evaluation of rubber materials for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen (15) days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Quotes may be faxed to (410) 278-6522.
