- Description
- The Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) plans to award a sole source simplified acquisition to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) in Prairie Village, Kansas. This professional medical organization is a designated source to provide the required training for qualifying physicians for waiver authority from the requirements of the Controlled Substances Act (21 USC 823(g)) for physicians who dispense or prescribe schedule III, IV or V narcothic drugs for the maintenance or detoxification treatment of opioid dependency. The contractor shall conduct training for certification of addiction specialist physicians and primary health care physicians by providing faculty recruited from the clinical trials of buprenorphine in office practice, from among those who have done the research with buprenorphine at different levels and stages of the research, from people who have taught for AAAP previously on the topics in this curriculum, from clinicians who have experience in treating opioid addicted patients, and from members of the various relevant committees of the medical specialty societies in addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302-1. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. No solicitation will be issued. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
