Description

Solicitation N00421-01-R-0268 is issued as a request for quote (RFQ). The government intends to purchase on a firm fixed-price basis and to solicit and negotiate the proposed contract on a sole source basis with General Dynamics Communication Systems, 77 A Street, Needham, MA 02494-2806 for the part numbers listed below. This action is under the authority of FAR Part 12.6. The contract line item numbers and descriptions are: **CLIN 0001 Quantity 4 each P/N TACLANE, KG-175 Encryptor which is a low-cost, Type 1, key-agile, in-line network encryptor with a Data rate of 45 Mbps, and **CLIN 0002 Quantity 4 each P/N TACLANE-E-100, KG-175 Encryptor which is a low-cost, Type 1, key-agile, in-line network encryptor with a Data rate of 100 Mbps. General Dynamics Communication Systems is the sole manufacturer of the TACLANE KG-175 in-line network encryptor which is the only in-line network encryptor authorized for use in ongoing SIPRNET projects. The TACLANE KG-175 is the only in-line network encryptor capable of meeting the Government's minimum requirement. Award is expected 14 May 2001. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by 11 May 2001 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
