Description

Two vessels required to conduct lobster tagging operations at Necker Island, approximately 750 km northwest of Honolulu for the period of September 1, 2001 to September 30, 2001. Proposals may offer one or more vessels. Departure and arrival locations will be Honolulu, Hawaii. Vessels shall: be at least 65 feet long; be able to set and haul 500 lobster traps within 24 hour period; be able to maintain a minimum cruising speed of at least 7.5 nm/hr in low sea states, be able to operate continuously for 30 days before needing fuel or fresh water; be completely rigged for lobster fishing; be able to deploy and recover, by winch, a government-supplied lobster release cage (2 x 2 x 4 ft); have sufficient deck space to store traps; have at least 50 sq ft of clean, dry deck space for tagging operation; have two watertight deck totes (4 x 3.6 x 2.5 ft) to hold lobsters; have two seawater deck-hoses; have chart table and office space available for scientific crew; have at least 125 cu ft of freezer space exclusive of ship's stores for scientific samples; have accommodations for vessel crew and a 3-member scientific field party; and be equipped with a minimum of one captain, one engineer, one cook/fisher and one lead fisher. All responsive and responsible offers will be considered.
